Pete, a TC Williams graduate (Class of 1997) and former rower, joined the coaching staff in 2002. He was named to the 1997 Washington Post All-Met rowing team and rowed collegiately at Syracuse University.

Pete has coached every group and skill level within the Titan Rowing program- from novices to freshman to junior varsity to varsity. Additionally, he coached the Alexandria Community Rowing (ACR) Men's Sweep Team from 2006 through 2010 and coached the Old Dominion Boat Club (ODBC) Select Rowing program in 2006, 2007, and 2016.

His teams have won numerous awards and Virginia Scholastic Championships, and his athletes have gone on to row at colleges all over the country.

Pete is married to a fellow TC Williams graduate/former rower/coach and current Alexandria City High School science teacher, Lexye Hearding. They have two daughters.
