Beth Yancey

Beth is a native Alexandrian.  She started rowing at then-TC Williams High School as an 8th grader in the late 1970s under Dee Campbell in the old Torpedo Factory boathouse.  After playing soccer in college and then taking a few years off from sports, she began coaching the girls Freshman 8 boats at TC in 1989.  During her time coaching the girls Freshman, her boats saw undefeated seasons and won Stotesbury Cup gold medals.  In 1999 she moved over to the boy's side and began coaching novices, again having success with winning boats.  During that time Beth also coached summer and fall seasons for the Alexandria Crew Boosters, including sculling, novice adults, and held head coach positions for some of those seasons.  In 2003 she left coaching to have a baby and returned to coaching again in 2017, along with that baby, who later became a Titan rower!

In the late 1980s and early 1990s Beth rowed with the competitive women's sweep program at Capital Rowing Club in D.C., competing in the Head of the Charles, Head of the Schuylkill, and various other head and sprint races. She also competed with the women's sweep program at Alexandria Community Rowing. Her favorite place to row is the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia.

She lives in Alexandria and is a consultant for the Federal government.
